Bug Exterminator: A Lesson on Place Value

Ever feel like you need to catch a small break?  Well, the customers in my place value game need a break with the bugs that are in their house!  They've called the exterminators (aka your students).   My students had a blast at math center this week!  Students raced to find the number called in by the "customers."  They used some cheap (but adorable) fly swatters to swat the numbers taped to the dry erase board.  The winner of each round was able to stay.  This activity was sort of like board races, if you will.  I mad 2 sets, and worked with students who struggled at the back table.  We will be pulling out this lesson again soon!
